Learn how it all began

From small beginnings, from the idea to improve something, slowly but surely PaperOffice was born.

Bit by bit, our company developed along with our document management software.

We matured with our product and with you, because you as our users were and are at the same time advisors for what we improved and what we can do even better.

Year 2002
It all started as an idea out of necessity

We, the former Schönland X-Media media agency, needed a DMS and the few solutions on the market were far too expensive, simply bad to use and not suitable for us as a startup.

PaperOffice 1.0 as freeware

Based on Visual Basic 6 and a Microsoft Access database, the very first PaperOffice is created and released as freeware to our customers.

PaperOffice 2.0 for 9,99 Euro

And users love PaperOffice:

It combines all the features they need at an unprecedented price.

More and more hours of work are going into PaperOffice, which was originally developed as a proprietary solution only.

PaperOffice version 2 becomes the first commercial version and now takes up a full-time job.

From now on only PaperOffice

Our business founder Daniel Schönland puts all his eggs in one basket: What started as a hobby now becomes the core business.

The regional and still in Harsewinkel based advertising and web agency "Schönland X-Media" changes to a software producer.

With 4 employees and a puppy:
Schoenland X-Media becomes Realify Systems limited.

PaperOffice 2009

PaperOffice is available for the first time with MySQL databases, becomes revision-safe, gets tons of new features and a completely redeveloped design adapted to Microsoft Office 2007.

The first international sale takes place and PaperOffice gets the first English language interface.

Computerbild magazine CD

PaperOffice owes its success to Computerbild and its outstanding work.

Computerbild believes in PaperOffice and presses the "PaperOffice CBE" for the first time on the magazine CD:

Together with an excellent workshop, readers get to know PaperOffice and are thrilled.

PaperOffice 2012 Launch together with Computerbild

Due to the previous immense success, PaperOffice 2012 is immediately launched exclusively in cooperation with the German, Polish and Russian Computerbild.

PaperOffice is under attack

PaperOffice becomes the target of all vendors who proudly represent the German IT document mafia and are forced to adhere to the agreed pricing policy or "shut down".

Especially DMS vendors with less than 4 letters in the product name do not find the idea of the highly professional DMS system PaperOffice at an affordable price for everyone at all funny and see their million dollar maintenance contracts crumbling.

The small PaperOffice team, which now consists of 12 people, is bombarded almost daily with letters from lawyers, warnings and negative Internet sentiment for fictitious reasons.

PaperOffice reaches 150,000 licenses

PaperOffice owes its success once again to Computerbild and this time also in Eastern Europe by appearing in Computerbild Poland and Russia There is a new PaperOffice CBE version and an extensive 6-page workshop.

PaperOffice is now established among readers, reaching unprecedented user numbers.

Over 150,000 PaperOffice "Computerbild-Edition" licenses shipped, breaking all records.

PaperOffice Stealth is coming

The multilingual PaperOffice "Stealth" is in the starting blocks and will be delivered to selected users. The PaperOffice team has completed the ultimate system with the completely redeveloped PaperOffice, laying the foundation for all new versions to come.

The new PaperOffice is the world's first and only DMS software to offer unprecedented functionality. Among other things, this version not only has its own integrated cloud server, but also a complete fax and email solution.

PaperOffice is specifically future-proofed for D-A-CH and the European market by a decentralized staff and distributor network.

Radically new architecture

What Apple can do, we can do too. And just as Apple needed its Steve Jobs, PaperOffice needed its own "Steve Jobs" back:

And the directive that came next was radical:

Everything new. Everything better. Everything as it was before.

VB6 is discarded

In just one day it was decided that the current PaperOffice version 2015 will be the last of its kind (and with the unchanged VB6 core from 2002).

At the same time, the PaperOffice team was working on plans for a brand new PaperOffice, based on the experience of PaperOffice Stealth and the accumulated knowledge of 13 years of office and field work.

The new PaperOffice goes to the drawing board for the first time.

The completely redeveloped PaperOffice is ready and combines for the first time in 16 years ALL available technologies in just one PaperOffice software.

State of the art technologies like Node.js and the V8 Engine bring high tech to everyone. Gone are the days where high performance SQL databases had to be painstakingly installed and set up. The new PaperOffice is the first version that is completely ready to use out-of-the-box, without the hassle of administration.

The new PaperOffice raises the bar to an unprecedented level and guarantees absolute future security.

QNAP chooses PaperOffice exclusively and worldwide.

Due to the architecture of PaperOffice, the combination with a NAS device is the perfect final solution for complete document management in the digital office.

QNAP is one of the largest NAS manufacturers worldwide with more than 6 million devices. PaperOffice works with the most popular NAS devices, including the manufacturer QNAP.

PaperOffice is the world's only authorized provider of document management systems for QNAP NAS.

COVID19 shapes PaperOffice 2020 into the ideal HomeOffice DMS

Digitization must advance as fast as possible to make working and accessing all documents as easy and secure as possible also from the HomeOffice.

By bundling all development resources, PaperOffice will become the perfect all-rounder virtually overnight, allowing people to continue working even in the home office.

Perfectly prepared:
Since PaperOffice includes all the advantages of a cloud from the outset, but without a third-party cloud, strict requirements such as GOBD and DSGVO are met without additional work.

Digitization at the speed of light thanks to new in-house funding

Due to the immense demand for PaperOffice and the collapsing liquidity, we are reaching out to the business community and enabling the DMS acquisition completely unbureaucratically through in-house financing.

PaperOffice is a professional product / solution / ecosystem, which is primarily aimed at commercial users with more than 3 to 80 workstations.
PaperOffice can also be used privately and with fewer workstations without any problems if it corresponds to your price-performance ratio. To use PaperOffice on more than 80 workstations, PaperOffice CUSTOM should be used. We recommend, especially for professional use, to keep PaperOffice PLUS active at all times, which is associated with additional costs. Due to external influences, such as Windows updates, updates of other installed software, which system components change, etc., without an active PaperOffice PLUS, no guarantee is given for perfect function. Each PaperOffice license includes PaperOffice PLUS for 6 months, this is not automatically extended by PaperOffice and can, optionally, be booked after it has expired. All licenses purchased in the PaperOffice online shop have a 30-day right of withdrawal, i.e. you can withdraw from the purchase at any time as long as no payment has been made and the license has thus been activated and no services have yet been used. Time quotas for advice, presentation and support without active PaperOffice PLUS are limited in time and are decided by the PaperOffice team individually and based on experience.
PaperOffice delivers online license orders risk-free without prepayment on open account and does not charge VAT.
